The World Cultural Council celebrated with the host of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden the Award Ceremony. Prof. Werner Stumm received the Albert Einstein World Award of Science in recognition to his contributions to environmental science and his significant influence to the implementation of water pollution control measures in Switzerland as well as in other countries.

The José Vasconcelos World Award of Education was granted to Dra. Dolores Hernández, a pioneer in science and mathematics education in the Philippines, for her more than 20 years dedication to the improvement of education in her country. As Director of the University of the Philippines Institute of Science and Mathematics Education Development she has played a significant role in the development of instructional materials and in the re training of teachers for this purpose.
